Inaugural driving trials hosted by Kismet Farms
We are super excited for our first driving event at The Ram Tap Horse Park. On this page you can find all the information about the show and how to sign up.
General information
Dogs are welcome, but must be on leash and must remain in the stabling/parking area while competition is taking place. USEF will assess a fine for dogs off leash.
Bags of ice will be available for purchase on site.
Golf carts can be reserved with your entry.
Stabling
Stabling will be open starting Wednesday morning, and will close Monday at 10 am. If you want to arrive earlier, or stay longer, Ram Tap charges $60 day use fee and $35 stabling fee. Please indicate this with your entry.
Stabling will be in barns 5-12. Each stall is 10 x 20 ft. Stabling fee is $150 for your first horse, and $100 for each additional horse. There is one shavings bag included with each stall, extra can be purchased on site. They are large bags (12 cubic feet) for $15 each. Shavings can be purchased with your entry. A limited number of bales of grass and alfalfa hay will be available for purchase on site.
Camping
Dry camping is available for $25. There are some camping sites with water, and a few with both water and electric hook-up. Additional hook-up sites are available if there is enough demand to justify firing up a big generator. Contact the Secretary if you are interested in an electric hook-up.
Hotel
There is a nearby Holiday Inn Express that offers a special rate to Ram Tap competitors.
Schooling rounds
On Thursday May 1, there will be the opportunity to school in the dressage arena and to school in a cones course. There will be volunteers to keep things running smoothly and to replace dislodged cones and balls, but otherwise, you’re on your own. Cones will be set to 160 cm, which is Prelim level clearance (30 cm) for a marathon vehicle, and 20 cm clearance for a presentation vehicle. You can sign up for 10-minute time slots in each arena. $25 per schooling time slot.
Extra information
Those who are familiar with Ram Tap may recall that there is a fairly busy train track running between Rte 99 and the area we will be using for marathon. Also, there is a state police gun range near the northeast corner of the park. They usually abstain from shooting during horse shows, but that’s not guaranteed. This has not caused much consternation among the horses, but could be a surprise for a green horse.
There will not be food available for purchase on the show grounds, but there are abundant options within about 2 miles. There will be a competitor’s dinner on Saturday evening provided by a local Mexican caterer. One dinner ticket will be provided to each competitor, and additional tickets may be purchased with your entry for $40. Menu is not yet available.
